Pozgar, President & CEO of Liberty Technologies Unlimited Inc. (Liberty), has over 40 years experience in the design, development and deployment of information processing systems.  Pozgar holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

Liberty, founded by Pozgar in 1997, is a world class provider of innovative technology solutions.  Shortly after Liberty was founded they acquired an interest in a start-up company called The Windermere Group (Windermere).  Pozgar also served as the President of Windermere and quickly structured an employee-owned business whose resources became totally focused on technology issues related to the security of our nation.  In five years Windermere grew from nothing to over 450 people with innovative technology solutions currently being delivered to over 15 federal agencies and 25+ commercial customers.  In January 2005 Pozgar sold his interests in Windermere but retained the rights to selected sets of Intellectual Property that are currently being taken to market following the guidelines of the  business model that Pozgar perfected at Windermere.

Prior to founding Liberty, Pozgar was a Partner at Booz-Allen and Hamilton and ran their business activity with a National Agency within the U.S. Intelligence Community.  Pozgar also institutionalized a business process that enabled Booz-Allen’s participation in U.S. Government programs calling for Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I).

Before joining the Booz·Allen partnership, Pozgar was a senior member of core management teams that worked on developing numerous information processing systems for the U.S. SIGINT community.  Prior to joining senior management Pozgar worked for several major corporations where he designed and deployed numerous electronic systems and was cited with several "Engineer-of-the Year" awards.

Week #2 - July 10-13, 2017 Activities Below

Claysburg's Summer STEM and the Arts week #2 was a big success just like the first week. The four day event was the second of three different weeks of it. From the smiles on the kids' faces, they were loving it. They also really interfaced with the guest speakers, artists and musicians and their projects. The kids were as usual well-behaved. The teachers, volunteers, food staff and all others are to be commended for a job well done. The Claysburg-Kimmel parent's committee pulled off a great job organizing it. Their desire to have a summer program has reached fruition.

The support staff totalled approximately 20 people per day for the 60 students. Also, our thanks to the Claysburg-Kimmel School District, maintenance staff, secretaries and Jerome Dodson and Mel Mentzer of the IT department for their concerns in making certain that everything we needed was done. Also, we want to thank our donors who made all of this possible for the kids.

Those of you who did not come to any of the events including seeing the guest speakers, perhaps after viewing the pages and videos, you might change your mind and make time to visit the last week of the event starting on July 31, 2017 for four days. Also, we never turn down more volunteers.

Week #3 - July 31 - August 3, 2017 Activities Below

Claysburg's Summer STEM and the Arts week #3 has started out as a big success just like the first two weeks. The four day event is the third of three different weeks of it.

From Catalyst Space speaker to NASA to Skyping with NASA to ultrasound of a dog and wrapping up with a successful local businessman, it was a great group of speakers.  The Rocket Launches, the music, the art and other events were all hits.  And the final event - an Ice Cream bar was a big success!

The support staff totaled approximately 20 people per day for the 60 students. Also, our thanks to the Claysburg-Kimmel School District, maintenance staff, secretaries and Jerome Dodson and Mel Mentzer of the IT department for their concerns in making certain that everything we needed was done. Upon graduation he became a Structural Dynamicist at The Boeing Company, where he led a team that provided structural/acoustical analysis for the Space Launch System, a Space Shuttle-derived heavy expendable launch vehicle being designed by NASA.  He is currently pursuing his PhD at Penn State University in Structural Acoustics.

Ben Eberhart
Musician

Ben Eberhart is a 2010 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel and of Penn State where his major was music.  Ben currently is employed at Cove Forge at Williamsburg, PA.

Ben's real passion is music and working with others to appreciate the fine art that is involved with music.  This is the third week that Ben has participated in the Claysburg STEM and Arts program.  His music and working with the students was magnetic as the students interacted with him.

After the second week of Ben working with the STEM and Arts program, the committee decided that for the third week, Ben should work with students on stage with instruments.  Students were told in the last session to bring their own instruments or make their own instruments if they wanted to perform.  Also, there was an adequate supply of other musical instruments for those who wanted to participate.

Without a practice session, Ben turned the afternoon Jammin' Session into a fun-filled time.  Students participated and others listened.  Ben brought not only an awareness of the importance of music to the event but also involvement and fun.

Ben and his friends have a band called "From Down the Road."  Their music is available on-line.

Andrew Trexler
Executive Director – Catalyst Space – Altoona, PA

Andrew Trexler is a graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel.  In 2013, at the age of 27, the former marine decided to pursue his passion of science and making going to Penn State University's College of Engineering.

Catalyst Space began with three engineering students and a 3D printer. Being an average group of college students with a combined net worth of a few dollars, plenty of dust, and an expired library card between the three of them,  they decided to try to see how our education could be used to make a few dollars for the “luxuries” in life. After a short period of time doing some prototyping with a 3D printer they were amazed at the amount you could learn when you could see something created. The satisfaction of seeing their creations come to life is astonishing, and it didn’t take long for them to believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience this. From there the ideas just kept snowballing until the avalanche became what is now - Catalyst Space. They loved this idea because they could reach out to such a large variety of the community, from the professionals to the at home do it your selfers. Because at Catalyst Space, they are a group of creative free thinkers with a desire to innovate, and they want to share the passion of innovation and creation with those around them.

Bio – Dr. Galen Dively

Dr. Galen P. Dively is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology at Juniata College and doctorate in entomology from Rutgers University. He worked as an Extension Specialist in Agricultural IPM for 34 years. In this role, Dr. Dively developed monitoring and decision-making guidelines to reduce pesticide use in vegetable and field crops, and was involved in numerous IPM educational and demonstration projects. In the mid 90’s, he began field studies to address the ecological and resistance risks of transgenic insecticidal crops, first working with Monsanto’s Bt NewLeaf potato, then with Syngenta’s Bt sweet corn, and eventually conducting studies on the major field corn events. Dr. Dively was the lead or co-investigator on five USDA Biotechnology Risk Assessment Program grants. He also was part of a research team that assessed the impact of transgenic corn on the monarch butterfly. Six scientific articles (five in PNAS) resulting from this effort significantly influenced EPA’s science-based decision process regarding re-registration of Bt corn in 2001. Dr. Dively is best known for his research on the non-target effects of Bt corn and has served on several scientific panels and workshops to develop field and laboratory protocols for testing non-target effects. Since this retirement in 2006, he continues to conduct research on transgenic Bt crops, sublethal effects of pesticides on honey bee colony health, efficacy evaluation of organic insecticides, and studies addressing information gaps in the biology and management of emerging pest species.
